Participating Employer - Partnet
Partnet Inc. (www.partnet.com) builds and operates mission-critical web applications for commercial and Government organizations. The company began at the University of Utah in 1992 as a research effort for DARPA. Partnet started by investigating the use of the Internet to help engineer’s source parts for machine design. This initial project architecture was client-server based; however when Mosaic was introduced in May of 1993, Partnet quickly converted the DARPA project over to a web application offering one of the first five web sites known to exist at that time. Out of that early R&D effort, Partnet developed an application which has grown to become the DOD email. Due to its pioneering work in distributed systems, the Department of Defense selected Partnet to be the primary developer and sole operator of this mission critical application. Today the EMALL is the largest online marketplace in use by the US Government with over 33 million listings and over 144,000 registered users.
